Husky
One bigger thing that happened last year in April was that we got a new dog! A alaskan husky, he was 8 weeks when we got him, broght our kids to get him, we drove about 4 hours one way to pick him up. The lady we got him from lived in a cabin in the woods, down a ski trail, her whole place was fenced in, and we walked up there, opened the gate, and got greated by about 5-6 huge huskys, and the puppies in the pen.
Our first dog was a Mexican hairless, he got 13 years old, and sadly passed away 2 years ago, so we really felt that we needed a dog again for our family to be complete, our kids has always been around our first dog, so they where sad that he passed on. So we sat down and had as serious talk - about what we wanted from a dog, then we decided that what we want is a family dog, a large one, that can be with us on any adventure - at any time of the year, so we quickly decided on a Husky. And I’m so glad we did! What an amazing dog that is!
The only requirement I had was that he had to have blue eyes, everything else Marlyn could choose, so that both of us got the dog that we both wanted. We had to choose from a litter of 10, it was not easy, but we quickly discovered which one we wanted.
Our journey as husky owners has been great so far, no issues at all with this dog, he got to our place when they where digging up the street all summer, blasted rock, dug huge holes, escavators, trucks all day long etc, so he got used to noise real quick. I also helped my inlaws with making a new deck at their house, and the dog was with us there, hammering, sawing and all that stuff, so that has made him super calm in any situation like that, he just does not bother at all with things like that.
He slept each night from the first time he got here, got house clean fast, and respects our kids, and listens to them. He’s obviously a big dog, but he’s gentle, and listens to them.
We have also brought him to the dogpark since we got him, he was the smallest one there - but now he’s one of the biggest ones. And to go there and play with all kinds of dogs has been great for him! And it’s a bit funny because one of the dogs he enjoys to play with the most is a chihuahua!
He’ll be 1 year on in a couple of weeks, and we’re looking forward to the many years still to come!
Here are some images that I have taken:
This image was taken last summer, he was about 5 months old.
This is taken a month ago while on one of our walks.
This was taken on one of the coldest days this winter, about -14C, we had 0 issues with that, and that is truly one of the best things with a husky, they handle the cold really well, no worries at all with that.
Here we walk the well known log flume in Vennesla (Awesome place to visit if you are ever in the south of Norway.).
